Piercing against migraine

If you've ever experienced a migraine, you know how intense the pain can be. Migraine is more than just a severe headache; it’s a common neurological condition that results in a range of debilitating symptoms, the most common being a throbbing pain on one side of the head. These symptoms can last for hours or even days, and everyone experiences them differently.

The connection between ear piercing and migraines is rooted in acupuncture. It relates to the existence of a pressure point associated with the digestive system located in that part of the ear. If you receive acupuncture treatment for migraines, you may already know that applying pressure to this area is aimed at relieving migraine headaches. If you opt for a piercing, the constant pressure from the piercing on this pressure point may provide lasting relief from migraine pain. In Chinese medicine, it is believed that this point opens energy gates that provide the body with energetic relief and healing. Since this area targets the vagus nerve, the longest of its kind extending from the brain, it is thought that applying pressure in this area can not only alleviate headaches but may also partially relieve anxiety and possibly even depression.

Using ear piercing for migraine relief is a newer form of alternative treatment that helps manage pain. This method involves a piercing called a daith piercing, which goes through the smallest fold of cartilage in the ear. This fold is located just above the ear canal and can be challenging to pierce due to its position and small size. However, at our studio, this is not an issue, and we will happily perform this piercing for you.
